WHO WE ARE

The Posey County Solid Waste District operates 4 recycling centers within Posey County, the Mt. Vernon curbside program, and the Poseyville yard waste site. Centers are located in Mt. Vernon, Cynthiana, Poseyville, New Harmony, and Marrs Township. All materials are brought to Mt. Vernon for processing and shipping. Large appliances and electronics are accepted at the Mt. Vernon site only. Business recycling is available also.

Mt. Vernon Recycling Center

Corner of Lower New Harmony Rd. and Brown St.

Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm until 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

Marrs Recycling Center

Ford Rd. north of Hwy. 62

Open on Thursdays from 2:00pm until 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

New Harmony Recycling Center

East South Street

Open Wednesdays from 12 noon until 4pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

Poseyville Recycling Center

207 S. St. Francis Ave.

Open Tuesdays from 2pm until 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

ITEMS ACCEPTED

Paper:

slick magazines, catalogs, newspaper, office paper, junk mail – construction paper, non-foil gift wrap.

No tissue or food contaminated paper.

No adhesives.

Cardboard:

boxboard, cereal boxes, cake boxes (with foil or plastic removed)

No milk or orange juice containers. No wax coatings

Books:

Hardback books, Paperback books, Phone books

Plastic:

#1 (PETE), #2 (HDPE) clear and colored bottles.

#1 clear non-bottles (clam shells), #5 (PP) plastic, #2 (HDPE) non-bottles, grocery bags

Metal:

Aluminum cans, tin cans, miscellaneous metal.

Appliances & Electronics

* Mt. Vernon Center only.

Glass:

Clear, brown, green and blue bottles

Textiles:

USEABLE clothing, purses, linens, belts, paired shoes, stuffed toys.

Inkjet and toner cartridges

FEE charged for TVs

$25.00 for 27″ and under

$50.00 for large projection type TV's

$50.00 for Console TV's if it is still in console.
